Karolina Kurkova

Probably the third most in demand full-time model (after Gisele and Carmen), this Czech appeals strongly to both the fashion elite and the mass market. She reminds me a bit of Claudia Schiffer and Adriana Sklenarikova, having a classical beautiful face devoid of the kookiness so in vogue now. Some people have criticized her her being overly thin. This is most apparently when you look at her legs, her thighs being barely wider than her calves. Still I think her body is really hot - she has more curviness than most of the other ectomorphic models, a wonderfully tapering upper back and quite noticeable breasts (which she makes little effort to conceal).

From backstage footage of her she comes across as being very energetic and playful (aping other's mannerisms, adopting strange walks, play acting), though obviously is capable of sobriety when the occasion demands. I think she started modeling in 1999, and a year later arrived at her current, pre-eminent position. She always wanted to be a model and unlike a lot of other "take the money and run" type models, she seems genuinely interested in the fashion business.

Karolina has been featured in an unusually large number of editorials in both American (especially Vogue) and European magazines (unusual considering that she is a relative newcomer), and has lent her versatile beauty to at least 8 campaigns (Victoria's Secret, Express Jeans, Chanel, La Perla, Celine ...). Gossip-mongers among you would probably like to know that she has been dating her agent, a follicularly challenged Alessandro Bazzoni, for 2 years now. He found her as a relatively unknown model in Prague and obviously has done an excellent job managing her career.

Her work for Victoria's Secret is interesting. Most of the VS models no longer do much high fashion work, but the VS people discovered Karolina just as her career was accelerating - they cast her in their 2000 Cannes parade (my favourite VS show so far - the 2002 show didn't live up to expectations).

Linda Vojtova  

Stats: 86/62/89  Height: 178  DOB: June 22, ?

This large-lipped, big breasted beauty won the Elite Look contest in 2000, and became an important player in the modeling business in 2002. Half way through 2003 she is appearing in magazines and has done a major campaign for Max Mara. I've yet to see the slightest flicker of emotion on her face, and I've observed her in quite a lot of shows. Cheer up girl !

 

Magdalena Wrobel

Stats: 88/62/89  Height: 178  DOB: 1974

It's been a long time since Magdalena has done any high fashion work. I see her mainly in catalogues, men's magazines photo shoots and women's fitness magazines. She's just too babely for the fashion cognoscenti.

Maja Latinovic  

Stats: 84/61/86   Height: 178 cm  DOB: June 25,1980

Maja is truly delightful to ogle - she's undeniably one of the sexiest non-Brazilian models. She began modeling at the unusually late age of 20 (in 2000). She's not a favourite of the fashion world's elite, but she should be kept busy for the next few years. Fashion brands wise enough to employ her include Roberto Cavalli, Max Mara/SportMax (see pics below), Miss Sixty, Chanel (eyeware) and a nice but largely unknown Italian label called Lancetti.

She seems to be a moody girl - at times she's smiling and cheerful (like in a FashionTV interview segment I saw), but at other times looks upset and irritated backstage. Maja wears a perpetually sullen expression on the catwalk, but designers seem to like that.
